Suisun Marsh Seminar - May 23
The Center for Aquatic Biology & Aquaculture (CABA) will be presenting a symposium on Suisun Marsh May 23 at 9 a.m. at UC Davis. This event, co-sponsored by the Delta Science Program and the Center for Watershed Sciences, will bring together regional experts to share information and discuss future management. There will also be an afternoon workshop to discuss each topic in-depth. Space in the afternoon focus groups is limited.
Suisun Marsh, a large brackish wetland in the San Francisco Estuary, has been actively managed for conservation since 1976. Detailed directions and map: conferencecenter.ucdavis.edu
The Delta Stewardship Council was created in legislation to achieve the state mandated coequal goals for the Delta. "'Coequal goals' means the two goals of providing a more reliable water supply for California and protecting, restoring, and enhancing the Delta ecosystem. The coequal goals shall be achieved in a manner that protects and enhances the unique cultural, recreational, natural resource, and agricultural values of the Delta as an evolving place." (CA Water Code §85054)
