The Delta Stewardship Council was created in legislation to achieve the state mandated coequal goals for the Delta. "'Coequal goals' means the two goals of providing a more reliable water supply for California and protecting, restoring, and enhancing the Delta ecosystem. The coequal goals shall be achieved in a manner that protects and enhances the unique cultural, recreational, natural resource, and agricultural values of the Delta as an evolving place." (CA Water Code §85054)
The Delta Independent Science Board (ISB) released its final report evaluating multiple stressors in the California Delta on January 26, 2011. The Delta ISB held a workshop Jan. 12-13, 2011 and a follow-up teleconference Jan. 24 to address a request from some members of the California Senate, Assembly and the Delta Stewardship Council to evaluate stressors to the Delta. The report was presented to the Delta Stewardship Council at its Jan. 27-28 meeting.
