Delta ISB to Meet September 1-2 to Review Fifth Staff Draft of Delta Plan

Summary

The Delta Independent Science Board (ISB) will hold a meeting September 1-2 at 1001 “I” St. (Cal-EPA Building) 1st Floor Training Room 1, East and West, Sacramento, to discuss its review of the fifth staff draft of the Delta Plan and begin preparing comments.

The fifth staff draft of the Delta Plan was released on August 2, 2011. This draft includes the policies and recommendations that will be the basis for the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR). The Draft EIR is expected to be released September 1, 2011. For more information, click here.

Coequal goals

The Delta Stewardship Council was created in legislation to achieve the state mandated coequal goals for the Delta. "'Coequal goals' means the two goals of providing a more reliable water supply for California and protecting, restoring, and enhancing the Delta ecosystem. The coequal goals shall be achieved in a manner that protects and enhances the unique cultural, recreational, natural resource, and agricultural values of the Delta as an evolving place." (CA Water Code §85054)
