These workshops are intended to gather
comments on a draft amendment to better:

  • Improve the way water moves across the
    Delta (conveyance),
  • Improve the amount of water stored above
    and below ground (storage)
  • Improve the way the system is operated to
    maximize water supply and environmental
    benefit (operations)


The Delta Stewardship Council’s Delta Plan is an enforceable long-term management plan for a sustainable Delta that furthers the State’s coequal goals of improved water supply reliability and a protected and enhanced Delta ecosystem.


The workshops will include a status report on the draft amendment, break-out sessions to address specific suggestions and concerns, and the anticipated adoption schedule.

Coequal goals

The Delta Stewardship Council was created in legislation to achieve the state mandated coequal goals for the Delta. "'Coequal goals' means the two goals of providing a more reliable water supply for California and protecting, restoring, and enhancing the Delta ecosystem. The coequal goals shall be achieved in a manner that protects and enhances the unique cultural, recreational, natural resource, and agricultural values of the Delta as an evolving place." (CA Water Code §85054)
