Meeting topics include:

  • Status of the Delta Levees Investment Strategy
  • Discussion of the risks to lives, property, water supply, habitat, and other important Delta resources
  • Discussion of actions, programs, and funding to reduce risks

The Council is required by the Legislature to identify State priorities for levee investments in the Delta. The Council continues work on the Delta Levees Investment Strategy to update interim priorities in the Delta Plan by considering the flood risks in the Delta and the improvements and programs that could reduce risks for people, property, and State interests. To date, Council staff and the consulting team have assembled existing information and evaluated risks of flooding to lives, property, water supply, habitat, and other important Delta resources.

Based on this information, the Council has prepared draft revisions to the Delta Plan risk reduction policies and recommendations. Your input will help inform the Council as it deliberates on an overall risk reduction and levee investment strategy.

Council staff and the project team are continuing to coordinate with the partner State agencies1, flood management districts and reclamation districts, local government, infrastructure owners, landowners, and others with interests in Delta levees. The Council expects to complete the revisions to the Delta Plan, including the necessary environmental review by mid-2017.

Thank you for your interest in the Delta Stewardship Council and its development of the Delta Levee Investment Strategy.

The coequal goals shall be achieved in a manner that protects and enhances the unique cultural, recreational, natural resource, and agricultural values of the Delta as an evolving place."
