  1. Traditional Resource Management by Miwok Indians on the Cosumnes River Preserve. The emphasis of this discussion will be about historic ecology of Miwok Indians, their cultural knowledge systems and management practices. (Michelle Stevens, CSUS)

  1. Depart Cosumnes River Preserve parking lot to Oneto-Denier Restoration site.
  2. View an active floodplain restoration site (Oneto-Denier) and discuss a newly funded grant designed to guide implementation and management of future restoration projects in the northeast Delta region. (Judah Grossman, The Nature Conservancy and Carson Jeffres, UC Davis)

Coequal goals

The Delta Stewardship Council was created in legislation to achieve the state mandated coequal goals for the Delta. "'Coequal goals' means the two goals of providing a more reliable water supply for California and protecting, restoring, and enhancing the Delta ecosystem. The coequal goals shall be achieved in a manner that protects and enhances the unique cultural, recreational, natural resource, and agricultural values of the Delta as an evolving place." (CA Water Code §85054)
