Delta Levees Investment Strategy Technical / Policy Public Workshop March 11, 2015
This half-day workshop, hosted by the Council, will focus on levees and risk management strategies for State investments to reduce risk while meeting multiple objectives and issues related to liability. Technical experts from this region, as well as from around the country, have been invited to attend and engage the Council, its staff, and consultants, in a dialog related to these topics.
Information gained from this workshop should further assist the Council as it undertakes various decision-making processes related to the Delta Levees Investment Strategy. The workshop will be structured as a conversation between the Council members and the invited experts with opportunities for the Council and panelists to receive public comment at scheduled times.
The Delta Stewardship Council was created in legislation to achieve the state mandated coequal goals for the Delta. "'Coequal goals' means the two goals of providing a more reliable water supply for California and protecting, restoring, and enhancing the Delta ecosystem. The coequal goals shall be achieved in a manner that protects and enhances the unique cultural, recreational, natural resource, and agricultural values of the Delta as an evolving place." (CA Water Code §85054)
