The Delta Stewardship Council was created in legislation to achieve the state mandated coequal goals for the Delta. "'Coequal goals' means the two goals of providing a more reliable water supply for California and protecting, restoring, and enhancing the Delta ecosystem. The coequal goals shall be achieved in a manner that protects and enhances the unique cultural, recreational, natural resource, and agricultural values of the Delta as an evolving place." (CA Water Code §85054)
The Delta Stewardship Council adopted the Interim Plan at its meeting of August 27, 2010. There were three (3) draft versions of the plan prior to the final action. The Council solicited electronic communications specifically directed to the various drafts of the Interim Plan as described below. All comments were posted on the Council website, and staff and consultants were directed to review and consider submitted comments in preparation of revised versions of the plan, in addition to testimony delivered at public hearings of the Council. Pursuant to the Council action on May 27, 2010, focused workgroups were utilized to develop language or alternatives to sections of this plan. Language specific to the Administrative Procedures is subject to change to conform to administrative procedures governing appeals, which will be considered for adoption at the September 2010 Council meeting.
